1. Install webchat on your website
Add webchat to let website visitors contact your workspace's agent and team. An Admin copies the installation snippet from Settings → Widget; someone with website access adds it to the pages where you want chat available.
Installation
- Select the correct workspace in Widget settings.
- Review appearance, Allowed domains and mobile visibility.
- Copy the supplied script snippet without changing its workspace identifier.
- Add it to the pages where the widget should be available.
- Open a page as a visitor and send a test message.
- Find the conversation in the intended workspace's Inbox.
The snippet includes the deployment's widget URL and a data-workspace identifier. Use the actual snippet rather than constructing a URL from this guide. For signed-in customers, add the server-signed token as described in the identity guide.
JavaScript controls
Use these controls when integrating webchat into your website:
- Converso.open() opens the widget, for example from your own support button.
- Converso.identify(token) supplies a signed customer identity.
- Converso.on('unread', callback) reports unread-count changes.
- Converso.reset() resets the widget on sign-out.
The identity secret stays on your server; these controls do not expose it to the browser.
